Joe Batis, MAI, AI-GRS

Joe is the developer and creator of The Appraisal Toolbox.  In addition to 40+ years of valuation experience, Joe is an instructor for the Appraisal Institute, and has developed and presented several continuing education seminars (for appraisers and attorneys).  Joe has extensive experience testifying in local/circuit courts, federal courts, and several state commissions.  Joe's business focuses on litigation-related assignments, easement/corridor valuation assignments, and the valuation of utility (water and wastewater) systems.

Tanya D. Woods, Attorney

 

Ms. Woods is a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois who oversees all the operations, strategic direction and vision for the Westside Justice Center, and a holistic legal aid clinic in Chicago. She has served as the Executive Director for the Westside Justice Center almost since its inception in 2016. She is a certified Mediator and Trainer at the Center for Conflict Resolution and volunteers as a mediator in the most underserved courtrooms in the Circuit Court of Cook County. Once a public school Reading Specialist and Librarian, Tanya is now an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University, School of Law. As a seasoned professional, and before her career in the law, Tanya enjoyed successful tenures in higher education, government, tech, and non-profit sectors. As an active steward in her professional community, Tanya is a member of and leader in several bar associations, legal societies, boards, African-American civic organizations and a former Chicago Public Schools Local School Council Chair. Tanya has earned numerous awards in recognition for her work in building coalitions and expanding legal services to some of the most underserved communities throughout the state. Tanya is a proud alumna of Trinity High School, Northwestern University and Loyola University School of Law.

John Urubek, MAI, AI-GRS, CCIM

 

Mr. Urubek has over 45 years as a full-time practicing appraiser and educator.  Over 35+ years, he taught more than 300 courses and seminars, mostly in the general and advanced levels of appraisal education.  In 2010, Mr. Urubek was inducted into the Instructor Hall of Fame for the Chicago Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.  He is the creator of Appraisal Concepts: A Comprehensive Review.  This review is a 6-day, very intense course designed to prepare appraisers to pass the National Certified General Licensing Exam or the Appraisal Institute’s 2-day Comprehensive Exam.  He also created two other day-long seminars: Practical Regression Using Excel and Practical Highest and Best use.

Leanne Klein, Attorney

Ms. Klein currently serves as Chief of Operations for Premier Title Company.  Ms. Klein began her real estate career in 1979 as a Real Estate Salesperson and Broker.  Ms. Klein entered Private Practice of Law in 1985, focusing on Residential Real Estate Law.  During her career as an Attorney, Ms. Klein served as Corporate Counsel with Attorneys’ Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. and Vice-President of Sales & Marketing with Chicago Title before establishing Premier Title Company in 1995.  Ms. Klein has served as an Officer and Board of Director for the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association for over 20 years and was recently designated one of the “100 Women Making a Difference” by Today’s Chicago Woman Magazine, as well as featured in the “Top 100 People in Real Estate Magazine”.  Ms. Klein is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana and The John Marshall Law School.  Ms. Klein, her Husband, Joseph, and their family reside in St. Charles, Illinois.
